■ Notes for applications

Copyright of winning works will belong to the author. However, the organizers maintain the right to reproduce for publicity or printed versions. The winning works will be shown in print and on the website.

Haiku on a set theme

  1. Submit only haiku related to the one of 12 photos.
  2. There are 12 photos, and you may submit one haiku for each. So you can submit 12 at the most.
  3. Submissions must be previously unpublished haiku by the applicant.
  4. Be sure not to mistake the number of the photo that goes with the haiku.

■ Personal information policy

Personal information submitted by applicants will be used for making contact and sending prizes. It will not be used for any other purpose, nor will it be made available to third parties without permission. After informing the winners, we will publish the name of the author (pseudonym or real name), country of residence. If it appears that the rules for applying have not been followed, the organizer may cancel any award given and the haiku will not be published.

Winners will be first informed by phone or email in March 2020, then announced on the website.

■ Standard Rules of English haiku for the Setouchi-Matsuyama International Photo-Haiku Contest

  1. Three lines
  2. With or without a season word
  3. No fixed number of syllables

■ Guidelines for English haiku submitted to the Setouchi-Matsuyama International Photo-Haiku Contest

  1. When applying, provide your name (real name), country of residence, phone number and email address. If this information is incomplete, the submission will be excluded.
  2. If the winner cannot be contacted in person by phone or email, the award will be cancelled.
  3. A notice confirming that your submission has been received will be sent by email. Once you have submitted your haiku, it is not possible to make any changes.
